What
is Li Hing Mui and where is it from?
Originating
in Mainland China, the ‘mui’ product is a dried plum product
with a sweet & salty taste that is a common part of the Asian
culture. Japanese use ‘mui’ called “ume” in many parts of
the Japanese meal. The Chinese use it in tea, as a snack or
for sore throats. Li Hing Mui is a product that has been established
in Hawaii since 1900 and is sold throughout the islands having
received much local media attention based on it s popularity.
In Mexico, a similar type of “mui” plum is used in various
food preparations called “saladitos” or “cha-moy”.
Aside
from the ‘mui’ plum’s use as a snack or food item, over the
last decade in Hawaii locals have started mixing the plum
with tequila and margaritas which made a very smooth combination
removing the bite from tequila. Over the last few years, nightclubs
and bars around the Hawaiian Islands have begun carrying Li
Hing Mui powder to mix into tequila shots and margaritas.
Native
locals in Hawaii still come up with new & innovative uses
for food everyday. Popular combinations have been Li Hing
Mui ice cream, Li Hing mango, pineapple, "poke" (fish), salmon,
BBQ ribs, chicken, mashed potatos, tea mix & the list goes
on...
As
the “mui” typically comes in a plum or crushed powdered form,
consumers were looking for a liquid version of the flavor.
How
can I get a bottle if I don't live in Hawaii?

What
is aspartame and why is it dangerous?
Valiente's
Li Hing Mui DOES NOT CONTAIN aspartame which was reformulated
in December 2001 !
Recent
European research shows that ingesting aspartame over time
leads to the accumulation of formaldehyde in the brain, other
organs and tissues (Formaldehyde has been shown to damage
the nervous system, immune system, and cause irreversible
genetic damage in humans.)
There
have been an extremely large number of toxicity reactions
reported to the FDA and other organizations by consumers ingesting
aspartame.
Most
Li Hing Mui plums and powder processed in Asia contain aspartame
or saccharin.
What's
the weather like in Hawaii?
Beautiful,
averaging between 70 - 85 degrees. If you live here, consider
yourself lucky. If not, well, that's something you might want
to consider.
